To the extent that you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me

"To the extent that you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me" (Matt. 25:40)

Reflection for today

Jesus connects loyalty to him with the way people respond to his brothers and the work entrusted to them. That makes support something concrete. It is easy to admire the worldwide preaching work in general; it is more meaningful to ask what part I personally play in advancing it.

My contribution may look ordinary. I might arrange my schedule to share in the ministry, help a newer publisher prepare a presentation, drive someone to a territory, support congregation arrangements, or keep preaching even when the response is limited. None of those actions may attract attention. Yet Jesus’ words show that he notices what is done in support of his brothers.

This also challenges me to think about my attitude. If I participate while constantly complaining, I may miss much of the joy. Instead, I can remind myself whose work this is. Christ is not asking me to produce impressive statistics; he is asking for loyal support. That can make a modest day in the ministry feel significant.

A useful question for the week is: “What can I do that makes the preaching work easier for someone else?” Maybe I can encourage a timid publisher, volunteer for an arrangement, or share a helpful experience. Supporting Christ’s brothers is not an abstract future test. It is a pattern of loyalty built now through willing, practical cooperation.
