How did Abraham show courage during this period of his life?
Genesis 22:5 shows that Abraham said that both he and Isaac would return. That statement reveals active hope, not resigned obedience. His mind looked for a way to harmonize the command with what he already knew about Jehovah and reached a faith-based conclusion.
I am also impressed that Isaac cooperated. Abraham did not need courage only in facing a difficult command; he also had to remain calm and trusting enough to move forward with his son. Mature faith can give stability to those who accompany us through a test.
Abraham was courageous because he knew Jehovah well enough to obey even without knowing how the test would end.
Abraham showed courage by obeying an instruction that must have felt emotionally unbearable. He did not act because he understood every detail but because he knew Jehovah well and trusted his justice, power, and faithfulness. Hebrews 11:19 shows that he reasoned that God could restore Isaac to life. His courage grew from faith trained through years of experience. I learn that major tests are easier to face when I have already stored concrete reasons for trusting Jehovah.
