Jeremiah 29:7
In Jeremiah 29:7 I am struck by Jehovah’s balance. He did not ask the exiles to live resentfully or detached from society; he allowed them to build a useful life while awaiting his promises. I see a realistic and kind God who understands that his servants need stability and teaches them to live peacefully even in circumstances they did not choose.
In Jeremiah 29:7 I am encouraged to ask what I can do for the peace of my immediate surroundings. Perhaps I can avoid needless disputes with neighbors, fulfill a responsibility on time, or speak respectfully when a community issue arises. My conduct can show that serving Jehovah makes me peaceful and dependable, not someone isolated from others.
In Jeremiah 29:7 I learn that Jehovah’s servants could seek the peace of the city where they lived even while far from home. That teaches me that neutrality does not mean indifference to the welfare of those around me. I can be a responsible neighbor, respect laws, and contribute to a peaceful environment without losing my spiritual identity or adopting political goals.
