In what ways did Abraham show courage during this part of his life?
Genesis 14:14 shows that Abraham did not improvise with an unorganized crowd; he gathered 318 trained men. That teaches me that courage is not recklessness. Preparing well, assessing resources, and acting in an orderly way can be part of a courageous response.
I am also impressed that Abraham did not use the victory to enrich himself. His conduct after the battle shows that spiritual courage does not seek personal glory. I can do something difficult and still remain modest when things turn out well.
Abraham showed courage by rescuing Lot, trusting Jehovah, and refusing to take the credit for victory.
Abraham showed courage when he acted after learning that Lot had been taken captive. He did not let danger, the difference in military strength, or his nephew’s earlier choices paralyze him. He gathered his men, pursued the invaders, and fought while trusting in Jehovah’s support. After the victory, he remained humble and recognized that the credit belonged to God. His courage combined decisive action, family loyalty, and spiritual trust.
