Spiritual Gems — Song of Solomon Chapter 7

Comment 1

In Song of Solomon 7:1 I learn about the **beauty of order and simplicity**. The shepherd praises the Shulammite's "**beautiful feet in your sandals**." This teaches me that beauty is not always found in **ostentation or luxury**, but in **care and order** (her feet ready to walk and serve). This motivates me to keep my spiritual habits "**beautiful**" and organized, ready to serve Jehovah.

In Song of Solomon 7:4 the comparison of her eyes to "**the pools of Heshbon**" is important. The pools reflect **purity, calmness, and depth**. This reminds me that purity of heart and vision is a beautiful spiritual quality in God's eyes. It encourages me to make sure my eyes, which are the "**lamp of the body**," reflect purity and focus on spiritual things.

In Song of Solomon 7:6 it teaches me to **value the beauty that comes from within**. The shepherd calls her, "**How beautiful you are and how pleasing, my darling, above the most exquisite delights!**" This underscores that the Shulammite's **godly personality and internal qualities** were her greatest appeal, surpassing any ephemeral pleasure. This helps me focus my efforts on cultivating the qualities that please God, which are the ones that endure.

Comment 4

In Song of Solomon 7:10 I learn the importance of **mutual affirmation and desire**: "**I belong to my beloved, and he desires me**." This benefits me by reminding me that the relationship with Jehovah is a **two-way street**. Not only do I love Him, but **He loves me and desires me** as a faithful servant. This certainty gives me great peace and courage to face life's challenges.

In Song of Solomon 7:11-12 the **Shulammite's loving initiative** is important. She invites her beloved to go out to the fields, to the vineyards, to see the growth and to express her affection to him. This teaches me to be **proactive in my relationship with Jehovah and with my family**. I must not wait passively for things to happen, but actively seek "**special moments**" of study, prayer, and service, **sacrificing my time** ("Let us get up early") to strengthen those bonds.

Comment 6

In Song of Solomon 7:13 I learn about **generosity and forward thinking**. The Shulammite tells her beloved that she has "**all sorts of choice fruits**" saved for him, "**both fresh and dried**." I can use this gem to help others cultivate **generosity in their service to Jehovah**. We should give Him the best of our "**fruits**" (our energy, time, and resources), and also "**save up**" for Him, planning our time for service in advance and saving the best for our God.
