Reasons to trust Jehovah

Jehovah always tells the truth and always does exactly what he promises

These opening paragraphs show why the God of truth deserves our complete trust and why his purpose can never fail.

1

According to Psalm 31:2-5, why can we trust Jehovah?

Paragraph 1
Full paragraph

1 WE LIVE in Satan’s world. Lies, deception, and betrayal are everywhere. At times it can be hard to know whom to trust. For example, some businesspeople cheat their competitors. Misleading advertising surrounds us. And some have learned that they cannot even rely on their friends, because those friends do not keep their word. How different Jehovah is! He is “the God of truth,” so we can always trust him (read Psalm 31:2-5). Truth is an essential part of his personality, and we can see that in everything he says and does. Jehovah is one hundred percent trustworthy.

Main answer

We can trust Jehovah completely because he is “the God of truth.” Unlike this world under Satan’s control, where betrayal and deception are common, truth is part of everything Jehovah says and does. He will never mislead us or let us down.

Additional comments

The contrast with this system is very strong. People are often disappointed by friends, employers, or human institutions. But when we take refuge in Jehovah, we can be fully sure that his word is solid and that we can build our whole life on it without fear.

2

What will we see in this article?

Paragraph 2
Full paragraph

2 In this article, we will consider some reasons why we can trust Jehovah with all our heart. Then we will see what the God of truth will do to bring Satan and his wicked world to an end and what he is doing in our day to fulfill his purpose. All of this will help us be courageous and speak the truth without fear.

Main answer

This study will show why we can trust Jehovah completely, what he will do to remove Satan and his world, and what he is doing now to fulfill his will. The goal is to fill us with courage so that we keep speaking the truth without fear.

3

Why can we put complete trust in Jehovah?

Paragraph 3
Full paragraph

3 We can trust Jehovah because he is the Creator. He made the heavens, the earth, and all living things (Gen. 1:1; Ps. 36:9; Rev. 4:11). Also, he created the earth with the resources needed for life to continue forever. He has everything completely under control and always will. Since Jehovah is very wise and has unlimited power, we can place our life and our future in his hands with full confidence.

Main answer

We can trust Jehovah because he is our wise and almighty Creator. He designed the earth with everything needed to sustain life and he has complete control over all things. That gives us confidence that our future is safest in his hands.

4

How do we know that Jehovah loves us?

Paragraph 4
Full paragraph

4 We can trust Jehovah because he loves us. He made humans because he wanted to share with them the wonderful gift of life. In addition, he created us in his “image and likeness” (Gen. 1:26). He gave us freedom of choice and a beautiful home in which to live (Ps. 115:16). He gave Adam and Eve the thrilling work of extending Paradise (Gen. 1:28; 2:15). He told them they could use everything on the planet to be happy and enjoy life. Clearly, “Jehovah’s loyal love [...] is for all eternity” (Ps. 103:17).

Main answer

We know Jehovah loves us because from the very beginning he planned for our happiness. He created us in his image, gave us free will, a beautiful home, and a meaningful purpose. All of that proves that his loyal love for mankind is real and enduring.

5

a) How did Jehovah fulfill his word even though Adam and Eve sinned? b) What are some promises Jehovah has fulfilled?

Paragraph 5
Full paragraph

5 We can trust Jehovah because he always fulfills his word. When he made the earth, his purpose was “that it should be inhabited”; he “did not create it simply for nothing” (Isa. 45:18, 19). But when Adam and Eve rebelled, they were sentenced to death. What, then, would happen to God’s purpose? Would it fail? Impossible! Nothing can prevent Jehovah from doing what he has purposed (Isa. 46:10, 11). His purpose for the earth was not affected: he wanted it to be filled with righteous humans. That is why he allowed Adam and Eve to have children and sent Jesus to rescue Adam’s descendants and give them the wonderful opportunity to live forever (John 3:16).

Main answer

a) Even though Adam and Eve brought sin into the human family, Jehovah did not change his original purpose. He allowed them to have descendants and put the ransom into motion through Jesus, guaranteeing that the earth will be filled with righteous people exactly as he intended.

b) Jehovah has proved many times that he is faithful to his word. He fulfilled his promises to Israel, fulfilled the Messianic prophecies, and today is also fulfilling what he foretold about the worldwide preaching work.

The God of truth wins

Jehovah has already begun Satan’s downfall and will soon complete the victory

These paragraphs explain who follows the Devil, what happened in 1914, and why we can be sure that the Kingdom will end all lies.

6

What did Jehovah foretell after the rebellion in Eden?

Paragraph 6
Full paragraph

6 Who tempted Adam and Eve to rebel against God? “The original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan” (Rev. 12:9; Gen. 3:4, 5; John 8:44). When Jehovah pronounced sentence against him, he foretold that he would be destroyed (Gen. 3:15). He also indicated that before that happened, many would follow Satan and act like him. However, there would also be those who would faithfully obey Jehovah.

Main answer

After the rebellion in Eden, Jehovah announced in Genesis 3:15 that Satan would be destroyed. He also showed that many would side with the Devil, but that there would always be a group of faithful people who would choose to obey God.

7

Who follow the Devil, and what awaits them?

Paragraph 7
Full paragraph

7 Who follow Satan the Devil? The angels who have rebelled against Jehovah and disobedient humans. Like Satan, they oppose God’s purpose, so they form part of his offspring. But Jehovah has fixed the time to bring Satan and all those on his side to their end (Dan. 2:44; Rom. 16:20).

Main answer

The Devil is followed by both the demons and by humans who choose to disobey Jehovah and oppose his Kingdom. All of them face destruction, because Jehovah has already fixed the time when he will crush Satan and all who support his lies.

8

What did Jesus do in 1914?

Paragraph 8
Full paragraph

8 Why can we be absolutely sure that Jehovah will fulfill his promise to bring Satan and all his supporters to their end? Consider this. In 1914, Jehovah appointed Jesus as King, and Jesus began fighting against Satan and his demons. Because they lost, they were thrown down to the earth (Rev. 12:7-9). Although that war took place in heaven, its effects are obvious on earth. Since 1914, Satan has focused his efforts on getting as many people as possible to follow him. As a result, world conditions have become worse and worse. No wonder the Bible says: “Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time” (Rev. 12:12). But soon Jesus will finish what he began in 1914 and will “complete his conquest.” He will remove Satan and those who support him (Rev. 6:2). He will vindicate Jehovah’s name once and for all, and it will be clear that Jehovah is the God of truth (Ps. 45:4-6; Ezek. 38:23).

Main answer

In 1914, Jesus was enthroned as King in heaven and immediately began fighting against Satan and his demons. He cast them out of heaven to the earth. That gives us the full assurance that he will also complete the next stage of the victory very soon by removing Satan’s entire system.

Additional comments

World conditions since 1914 confirm that Revelation 12:12 is being fulfilled. Wars, violence, crises, and fear everywhere show that the Devil is acting with great anger because he knows his time is short. Instead of discouraging us, this gives us confidence that the end is near.

Jehovah gathers those who love truth

The worldwide preaching work proves that Jehovah’s purpose keeps moving forward

These paragraphs show whom Jehovah is gathering, how he is freeing people from religious lies, and how his true servants can be identified.

9

Whom is Jehovah gathering today?

Paragraph 9
Full paragraph

9 Meanwhile, Jehovah is gathering “all things in the Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth” (Eph. 1:10). The expression “the things in the heavens” refers to the anointed, whom Jehovah has chosen to reign with Christ in heaven. And the expression “the things on the earth” refers to those who will live forever in a paradise on earth. All these servants of Jehovah stay very busy helping others come to know the truth and showing that Satan is a liar.

Main answer

Jehovah is gathering the anointed Christians who will reign with Christ in heaven and the great crowd who will live forever on earth. Both groups work together in preaching and in showing by their conduct that Satan is a liar.

10

What is Jehovah doing to free people from religious lies?

Paragraph 10
Full paragraph

10 How is Jehovah gathering those who love the truth? By means of the greatest preaching campaign in history (read Revelation 14:6, 7). Although he uses humans to carry the good news message, angels are also sharing in the work of gathering sincere people into the congregation. Thanks to the preaching work, the lies about Jehovah that Satan has spread for centuries through Babylon the Great are being exposed, Babylon the Great being the world empire of false religion (Rev. 18:2, 4). Soon false religions will be completely removed, and those who love the God of truth will give him the glory he so richly deserves (Rev. 17:16).

Main answer

Jehovah is freeing sincere people by means of the greatest preaching campaign in human history. With angelic support, the truth is reaching people everywhere and exposing the religious lies that Satan has promoted for centuries through Babylon the Great.

11

How can we identify Jehovah’s true servants?

Paragraph 11
Full paragraph

11 Jehovah is bringing into his people individuals from different cultures, backgrounds, and economic levels (Rev. 7:9, 10). When they hear “the good news,” they realize that they have found the truth and gladly join God’s people (Mark 13:10). In time, it becomes more and more obvious who are serving God in the way he wants and who are not. The prophet Malachi foretold: “You people will again see the distinction between a righteous person and a wicked person, between one serving God and one not serving him” (Mal. 3:18). By their conduct and their preaching, Jehovah’s servants show that they worship the God of truth.

Main answer

Jehovah’s true servants are identified by their conduct, their unity, and their preaching. As Malachi 3:18 foretold, today there is a clear difference between those who serve God and those who do not.

12

How does the preaching work contribute to the fulfillment of Jehovah’s purpose?

Paragraph 12
Full paragraph

12 By preaching “this good news of the Kingdom,” we obey Jesus’ command and share in the fulfillment of prophecy (Matt. 24:14; 28:18-20). Thanks to this work, men and women all over the world become followers of Jesus and have the hope of worshipping the God of truth forever. In this way, we do our small part to help Jehovah’s purpose succeed. What a tremendous honor that is!

Main answer

The preaching work directly contributes to Jehovah’s purpose because it fulfills the prophecy of Matthew 24:14 and the command to make disciples. Through this work, many people are getting to know the truth and receiving the opportunity to serve the God of truth forever.

Look to the future with confidence

Nothing in the universe can stop Jehovah from rescuing his people and completing his purpose

These final paragraphs show whom Satan attacks, what will happen at Armageddon, and why we can look to the future with complete confidence.

13

Who are the main targets of Satan, and why?

Paragraph 13
Full paragraph

13 Satan is very angry because he knows that he has only “a short period of time” left before his world is destroyed (Rev. 12:12, 13). Who are the Devil’s main targets? The anointed, “who observe the commandments of God and have the work of bearing witness concerning Jesus” (Rev. 12:17; 14:12). And Satan also attacks those who support them.

Main answer

Satan’s main targets are the anointed Christians still on earth because they faithfully obey Jehovah and keep bearing witness about Jesus. In addition, the Devil fiercely attacks the great crowd who loyally support Christ’s brothers.

14

What will happen after Satan attacks God’s people?

Paragraph 14
Full paragraph

14 After the destruction of Babylon the Great, those who support Satan will attack God’s people with all their might. As a result, the war of Armageddon will begin (Rev. 16:13, 14, 16). Jesus and his heavenly army will rescue Jehovah’s servants and completely destroy what is left of Satan’s world (Rev. 19:19-21). All the wicked and all liars will disappear (Rev. 21:8). The whole world will know that God is just and always speaks the truth.

Main answer

After the final attack on God’s people, Armageddon will begin. At that time Jesus Christ and the heavenly armies will rescue Jehovah’s servants and completely destroy what remains of Satan’s world, including all liars and all wicked ones.

15

Why can we look to the future with confidence?

Paragraph 15
Full paragraph

15 Today the world is more divided than ever. But with Jehovah’s help, his servants remain united. He is gathering those who love the truth, and nothing can prevent him from blessing his people and the work they do (read Isaiah 65:16, 17). We look to the future with confidence. The apostle Paul’s words at Romans 8:38, 39 assure us: “Neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powers nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God’s love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Main answer

We can look to the future with confidence because Jehovah is blessing his united people and because Romans 8:38, 39 guarantees that no force in the universe can separate us from his love. That gives us peace even while the world grows more divided.

16

Why do you trust Jehovah with all your heart?

Paragraph 16
Full paragraph

16 We have countless reasons to trust Jehovah, the God of truth. He is our Creator. He loves us deeply. He is making sure that the great crowd keeps growing and that people from all nations join in pure worship (Isa. 60:22; Zech. 8:23). Jehovah makes sure that his purpose is always fulfilled, and we know that he will soon put an end to Satan and his terrible lies. So let us make David’s words our own: “Praised be Jehovah God, [...] the only one who is doing wonderful things. Praised be his glorious name forever, and may his glory fill the whole earth” (Ps. 72:18, 19).

Main answer

We trust Jehovah with all our heart because he is our Creator, he deeply loves us, he always fulfills what he promises, and he is guiding a united worldwide brotherhood. We also know that very soon he will put an end to Satan and all his lies forever.
