Spiritual Gems in Isaiah chapter 57

The verse says that the righteous one dies and "no one takes it to heart." This makes me reflect on the world's lack of empathy. Yet for us, it is an opportunity to be better Christians. If a brother is suffering or has died, we should be the first to show compassion and support to his family, proving that among Jehovah's people each person is valuable.

Here it mentions that loyal men are taken away by death "because of the calamity." This teaches me that Jehovah sometimes allows his servants to rest before circumstances become much harder. It helps me trust that Jehovah knows the right time for everything and that those who die in his hands are under his total care.

Jehovah asks the rebels: "Whom are you mocking?" This serves as a warning for me. At times, without meaning to, we could join in criticism or mockery aimed at other brothers or at the guidance coming from the organization. This gem reminds me that mocking Jehovah's servants is, in reality, mocking the One who guides them: Jehovah himself.

The text describes the disobedient as "children of deceit." It teaches me that sin almost always begins with a lie we tell ourselves. To be better Christians, we must be honest with Jehovah in prayer and with ourselves, not trying to justify bad actions with deceptive reasoning.

I am struck by the words: "You found renewed strength. That is why you do not give up." Here it refers to people who put a lot of effort into bad or worldly things. This makes me think: if people in the world have so much energy for things that are worth nothing, how much more energy should I have for Jehovah's service? It motivates me to use my strength enthusiastically in the ministry and not give in to discouragement.

This verse describes someone who becomes exhausted pursuing many paths but does not admit that "it is useless." It teaches me the importance of being reasonable. If I notice that a personal goal is drawing me away from Jehovah and wearing me out spiritually, the wisest thing is to stop and admit that this path is not good for me instead of stubbornly pressing on out of pride.

Jehovah asks: "Whom did you fear so much... that you began to lie?" This teaches me that fear of man is a snare that can lead us to compromise our integrity or hide the truth. By remembering that Jehovah is far greater than any human, I feel motivated to be courageous and always tell the truth, even under pressure.

Jehovah mentions that he remained "silent and out of sight." At times, when Jehovah does not intervene immediately in the face of injustice, people think that he does not care or that he does not exist. But this gem reminds me that God's silence is an expression of his patience, giving us time to repent and reveal what is in our heart.

The verse says that when someone cries for help, his "collection of idols" will not save him. In our modern life, those idols could be our savings, our career or even our own intelligence. This gem teaches me that only refuge in Jehovah is secure. Putting my trust in material things is like expecting "a mere breath of wind" to protect me.

Jehovah gives the command: "Clear out of the way of my people every obstacle." This teaches me a lesson in brotherly love. If I see that something I am doing, even if it is not wrong in itself, is becoming a stumbling block to a brother, I should be willing to remove that obstacle out of love. It helps me to be more considerate of the conscience of others.

Jehovah says that he dwells with "those crushed and lowly in spirit." This is very encouraging because it teaches us that Jehovah is not looking for those who think they are perfect or the strongest, but for those who recognize that they need his help. If I feel "crushed" by problems, Jehovah assures me that he is right by my side to give me new strength.

Jehovah's purpose is "to revive the spirit." It teaches me that Jehovah is a positive God who wants to see us doing well. This gem motivates me to imitate him: when I speak with brothers who are going through trials, my goal should be to revive their hearts with words that give hope and not with criticism or demands.

Jehovah says that he will not remain indignant forever, because if he did, "the spirit of man would grow faint." What a beautiful gem about God's consideration. He knows our physical and emotional limits and does not ask more of us than we can bear. It teaches me to be that understanding with myself and with others, remembering that we are fragile creatures.

Jehovah says: "I have seen his conduct, but I will heal him." This moves me because it shows that although Jehovah sees our mistakes, his first desire is to heal us, not to punish us. This gem helps me view discipline and the counsel of the elders as a form of spiritual healing that Jehovah sends us out of love.

The wicked one is like the sea that "cannot calm down" and that tosses up "seaweed and mire." This image teaches me that a life without Jehovah is always full of agitation and moral uncleanness. It helps me value the cleanness and peace we have in the Christian congregation, where God's spirit produces calm and purity.

"There is no peace for the wicked." This gem is a reminder that true peace is a gift from God for those who strive to obey him. Even if someone who does not serve Jehovah seems to have a quiet life, that person lacks the peace of mind that comes from having a good relationship with the Creator and a real hope for the future.
