Spiritual Gems — Song of Solomon Chapter 6

Comment 1

In Song of Solomon 6:2 it teaches me that **true love finds its delight in quiet and simple places**. The shepherd was not in a palace, but in his "**garden**" and the "**beds of spice plants**," pasturing the flock. This reminds me that Jehovah delights in our **simple and sincere worship** carried out in the tranquility of the congregation and the home, rather than the ostentation of the world. He "**gathers lilies**" (his humble servants) in that environment.

In Song of Solomon 6:3 the Shulammite's declaration is important: "**I belong to my beloved, and my beloved belongs to me**." This **certainty and sense of mutual and exclusive possession** is the basis of a secure marriage and, more importantly, of our relationship with Jehovah. This benefits me by knowing that if I remain faithful to Him, I have the assurance that **I belong to Him and that He cares for me**, which is an anchor in these difficult times.

Comment 3

In Song of Solomon 6:8 and 9 I learn about the **incomparable value of fidelity**. Although King Solomon had many queens and concubines, to the shepherd, the Shulammite was "**one alone**," his "**flawless dove**." This teaches me that in Jehovah's eyes, the **fidelity of a single loyal servant is more valuable** than the wealth or prestige of countless unfaithful people. It encourages me to strive to be that "**flawless dove**" in loyalty.

In Song of Solomon 6:4 it is important how the Shulammite is described as "**awe-inspiring like armies around their banners**." This demonstrates the **dignity and respect** gained by a loyal person with strong principles. This benefits me by reminding me that when I **stand firm and resolute in my biblical convictions** (like an army under its banner), I acquire a moral beauty and a reputation for integrity that impresses others, even my opposers.

In Song of Solomon 6:11-12 it teaches me about the importance of **maintaining curiosity and enthusiasm for spiritual things**. The Shulammite went down to the garden to see the "**first shoot**," showing an active interest in growth. This encourages me **not to fall into routine** and to actively seek the "**freshness**" of the truth, observing how the Kingdom work flourishes and how my brothers grow spiritually.

In Song of Solomon 6:10 I learn a very descriptive phrase: "**Who is this woman who shines like the dawn... as pure as the light of the sun?**" I can use this description to help others understand that **true beauty is not a personal achievement, but a reflection of Jehovah's favor**, which makes us shine as we absorb and reflect the "**light**" of His Word. This will motivate them to live in such a way that they can "**shine**" for God's honor, attracting others to the light.
