Reflection for today
“Keep on loving” sounds less like a feeling and more like a continuing practice. Marriage changes through work, stress, health problems, disappointments, and ordinary routines. Affection can remain strong, but it needs habits that make love visible.
For a husband, one of those habits is the way he uses power in the home. Physical strength, personality, money, or the ability to dominate a conversation should never become tools for intimidation. A wife should be able to speak honestly without wondering whether her concerns will be met with ridicule, silence, or anger.
A useful self-check is not simply, “Do I love my wife?” but, “What has she experienced from me this week?” Did I listen without looking at a screen? Did I speak respectfully when I was frustrated? Did I notice something she was carrying and lighten it? If I hurt her, did I apologize without adding an excuse?
Loyalty also has an inner dimension. Protecting the marriage includes guarding what I choose to look at, imagine, and cultivate privately. Secret habits eventually affect the way another person is valued.
Spirituality is tested most honestly at close range. Public kindness cannot compensate for private harshness. When a husband keeps choosing tenderness, respect, and faithfulness, he does more than preserve romance. He helps create a home where trust can breathe and where both mates can draw closer to Jehovah.
