1

19:1-5

“They have filled this place with the blood of innocent people” (Jer. 19:4).
Main answer

Jehovah sees and condemns violence, idolatry, and harm to innocent people. His standards protect life and show that worship mixed with cruelty is unacceptable to him. Jehovah’s condemnation of cruel sacrifices shows that true worship can never be separated from respect for life. This passage also moves me to examine what content, conversations, or habits could make me less sensitive to another person’s suffering.

Additional comment 1

Jehovah’s justice does not depend on what a society decides is normal. Jehovah connected idolatry with violence against children, showing that no ritual can compensate for contempt for life. This teaching moves me to reject religious ideas or entertainment that treats cruelty as normal.

Additional comment 2

True worship should produce respect for life and dignified treatment of others. The statement that this practice had never entered Jehovah’s mind confirms that he does not enjoy suffering. It also moves me to imitate his tenderness by protecting vulnerable people and treating everyone with dignity.

Quick comment

This account moves me to treat every person with dignity and reject entertainment that glorifies cruelty.

2

19:10-12

“This is how I will break this people and this city to pieces” (Jer. 19:11).
Main answer

The broken jar represented an irreversible consequence for a nation that repeatedly rejected correction. Jehovah is very patient, but persistent rebellion is never approved. Breaking the jar represented that the announced judgment would not be a passing warning. The picture teaches me that Jehovah’s patience should move us to make changes now, before repeated rebellion produces consequences we cannot avoid.

Additional comment 1

The illustration teaches us not to confuse patience with approval. The broken jar represented a final result for those who persisted in rebellion. This picture makes me value present discipline, because correcting our course while there is time is far less painful than waiting for an irreversible consequence.

Additional comment 2

Accepting discipline while there is time shows wisdom and protects our friendship with Jehovah. Jeremiah’s public sign turned an abstract warning into a scene that was easy to remember. Jehovah may use strong illustrations to awaken conscience, and we should not soften counsel that could save a life.

Quick comment

I want to respond to discipline while I can still correct my course instead of waiting for painful consequences.

3

19:14-15

“They stubbornly refused to obey my words” (Jer. 19:15).
Main answer

The problem was not a lack of information but a determined refusal to obey. Listening to God’s Word requires a practical response, not knowledge alone. The chapter’s final message showed that the people could not claim ignorance: they had received clear warnings and still refused to listen. This encourages me to respond promptly to Bible guidance even when it requires changing a deeply rooted habit.

Additional comment 1

Stubbornness can turn a clear warning into something we keep postponing. The chapter’s conclusion shows that the people had heard the message but chose not to obey it. This reminds me that knowing counsel is not enough; obedience is shown when we change a conduct, conversation, or priority.

Additional comment 2

Daily obedience shows that we trust Jehovah to know what is best. Repeated resistance can make someone stop distinguishing loving warning from annoyance. I want to keep a sensitive conscience so I respond humbly before postponing correction becomes a habit.

Quick comment

I want to prove that I listen to Jehovah by applying his counsel in my private, family, and congregation life.
