My strong rock, my refuge, is God

"My strong rock, my refuge, is God" (Ps. 62:7)

Reflection for today

A refuge is valuable because it remains dependable when conditions outside become harsh. Psalm 62:7 gives me that picture of Jehovah. His standards do not shift with popular opinion, and his personality does not become unpredictable because my circumstances changed. That stability can be deeply calming when life feels uncertain.

Trust, though, becomes meaningful when it affects a decision. I may say that Jehovah is my Rock, but what do I do when obedience seems inconvenient? Perhaps honesty will cost me something, patience feels too slow, or a Bible principle conflicts with an easier option. Those moments reveal where I am actually placing my weight.

One helpful exercise is to remember past situations in which following Jehovah’s direction protected me or gave me peace. Recalling specific experiences can strengthen confidence for the next challenge. I can also pray before making an emotionally charged decision rather than after I have already acted.

A rock does not necessarily remove the storm; it gives us something solid during the storm. In the same way, faith does not mean that every problem disappears quickly. It means I do not have to build my security on changing circumstances, human promises, or my own limited strength. The more I learn about Jehovah’s consistency, the more natural it becomes to lean on him when life feels unstable.
